Mint green!!

For the past year or so I have been in love with all things mint green/seafoam. I've wanted to paint my bathroom this color, my pedicures are often this color and I'm constantly looking for mint green clothes.

So it is no surprise that I have a bazillion mint green pens. The lamy is filled with Diamine Soft Mint Green ink, so don't let the lime green barrel fool you.

Interestingly, the ranges of ink color are very broad. And some range from more of an emerald to light limeish, rather than a true mint.

My favorites are the Pilot Juice and both sharpies. After I took this picture I found about six more pens that fit this color range. Clearly, I'm mint green crazy.

The journal is from Urban Outfitters. It is a beautiful color and a very nice, soft leather.  The paper is heavier than moleskine for sure. I haven't done a pen test, but I don't anticipate too many problems.  I know some will love the pen/pencil loop. I won't utilize it, but it does add to the aesthetics of the journal.  I picked it up in a store, but it is still available on the website.  I kind of want to buy another one because I love this one so much.

My Dysfunctions Journal Review and Giveaway!

I know I do. I have an abundance of daily frustrations and issues, not to mention a strange fear of escalators. Which is a real problem during the holiday shopping season... But now I have something that will help me get over my escalator craziness...

I was excited to be contacted by KnockKnock to review the My Dysfunctions journal. This journal says it all on the cover. The first few pages are also a nice discussion of the transformative powers of journaling, but it is written with the little bit of snark found on many of KnockKnock's products.

The pages have great prompts to start you off if you can't think of anything dysfunctional to write about. (I truly don't have that problem.) I love the pictures at the bottom that asks "what would make it better today," they are a cute touch.

The prompts, drawings, and colors keep this journal from taking itself too seriously. It gives a fun place to write down your dysfunctions and I appreciate that it basically keeps you to one page per prompt. This is helpful for people who are new to journaling as well because there isn't a sea of blank pages to intimidate the writer.

I do want to talk about the overall quality of the book and paper. I wrote a short review with a Sailor Recruit Fountain pen (pictured above) I ordered from jetpens. You can click on the picture to see how the pen works and my initial stream of consciousness type thoughts on the book, but I am going to summarize them as well.
The book is well constructed with a sturdy, heavy cardboard cover and sewn in, bright white pages. It doesn't stay completely flat yet, but I think it would with use. The pages are thick. I don't know what type of paper is in here, but the fine point sailor fountain pen did not bleed or feather. I think it is a great gift idea! And lucky for you all, I have an extra one to giveaway!

Pilot Plumix

I have a few new things to share with this everyone! The first being the Pilot Plumix. I read a review of this pen at Unposted and I ran right out to Target to buy it! I'll be honest, I hate it.

Things I hate about this pen:
1. The color of the ink. The blue is a weird washed out color on plain white paper, but a nicer color of blue when it is on the cream Piccadilly paper. But I don't like it. Plus the fact it has blue ink is a little misleading as it is a smoky black pen body.

2. The nib is too wide. But I can't figure out how to use it in a way that takes advantage of the wideness. I prefer a finer point.

3. Overall, the shape of the pen is unappealing. The cap also twists on, which I found to be irritating and I kept forgetting and tried to pull it off several times.

4. When I inserted the ink cartridge, I was somehow was doing it wrong. And I ended up breaking a plastic piece in there. I could see it was cracked through the barrel. To the Plumix's credit, the pen still worked fine.

Now aside from the pen you may be asking yourself, "what in the heck is that pen sitting on?" It is an awesome, creepy and unique nightlight I bought when visiting Muscatine. Click here to visit the maker's blog! I linked to one post about Cracked in the Head Nightlights, but if you scroll down the page you can see more of her work. I want to buy them all! Check it out!
